Davis & Floyd evaluated the existing Wilson Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) facilities and operations as well as recommended and designed plant upgrades. The plant was initially designed in the late 1950s as a 3 MGD facility with secondary treatment and needed to be upgraded to meet more stringent discharge limits with an expanded capacity to 12 MGD to support future growth.
Our team prepared a Preliminary Engineering Report (PER) evaluating upgrade alternatives and developed a master plan for the facility. The improvements were constructed in multiple phases to meet both the performance and budget requirements of Greenwood Metropolitan District. The improvements included headworks, Biological Nutrient Removal (BNR) basins, secondary clarifiers, Return Activated Sludge (RAS)/Waste Activated Sludge (WAS) pump station, diamond disc tertiary filtration, ultraviolet disinfection, and sludge handling upgrades.
This project received an American Council of Engineering Companies of South Carolina Engineering Excellence Award.
