JW Aluminum

Founded in Mt. Holly, SC, in 1979 as Jim Walter Metals, JW Aluminum grew from a family-operated shop employing 10 workers to a firm that operates four mills around the country. JW Aluminum wanted to expand their Mt. Holly plant to include a wide variety of new, cutting-edge, environmentally-friendly technology. They contracted Davis & Floyd to assist with the expansion. We worked with the law firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton, & Garrison to complete an ALTA/ACSM survey that included five parcels at the site.

We performed the ALTA/ACSM survey based upon the current Minimum Standard Detail Requirements for ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys (2011). Our team completed Table A “Optional Survey Responsibilities and Specifications” items 1, 2, 3, 4, 6(a), 6(b), 7(b)(1), 7(c), 8, 9, 10, 11(a), 13, 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20(a) of the standards and noted 97 title exception. Additionally, we conducted extensive research to complete the ALTA survey due to the large number of exceptions and items required. Currently, we are completing a survey requiring identification of all site features and structures on the site as well as a 5-acre topography survey sufficient for designing the plant expansion and modifying an existing stormwater pond. Our team provided all of the rezonings, variances, and land planning necessary to support the expansion of the existing plant. We completed the full civil engineering design and permitting needed to begin construction. We are providing ongoing support as the project is currently being built.
