To improve capacity and safety along Glenn McConnell Parkway, Charleston County commissioned Davis & Floyd to widen the roadway from four to six lanes along a 2.5-mile stretch from Bees Ferry Road to Magwood Drive in West Ashley.
Along with reducing traffic congestion, our team designed and prepared construction plans within existing right-of-way limits, including a multiuse pathway for safe pedestrian access and evaluation of the existing drainage system.
We provided landscape design and incorporated a bike/pedestrian path. Due to the project’s proximity to Church Creek drainage basin, known for flooding issues, we designed necessary drainage improvements.
