Davis & Floyd worked with the Lord Berkeley Conservation Trust and South Carolina Battleground Preservation Trust to develop a master plan for the historic site in Moncks Corner, SC. The master plan consisted of 2.5 miles of pedestrian trails with educational kiosks, an amphitheater, and an interpretive center, all paying homage to the rich history of Fort Fair Lawn.
Our team planned and facilitated several public engagement meetings to support the development of the master plan. These meetings allowed for the public to review and comment on the conceptual designs proposed by our landscape architects and engineers. These types of meetings are a critical step of any public master planning process to ensure public buy-in and support.
We incorporated low-impact development to preserve the integrity of the original fort along with the archaeological findings on site. Our team reduced the developmental impact on the site by keeping the majority of the site untouched. Additionally, we developed the master plan to minimize additional traffic impacts to neighbors by introducing an additional road to and from the park.
