City Of Sumter’s New Water Treatment Plant No. 6 Ribbon Cutting
Congratulations to the City of Sumter on their new Water Treatment Plant No. 6 Ribbon Cutting!
Davis & Floyd provided the Preliminary Engineering Report, design, permitting, bidding services, construction administration, full-time onsite representative, startup assistance, and operations and maintenance manual for the new water treatment plant with an initial production capacity of 4.0 MGD, expandable to 6.0 MGD. The new plant incorporates aeration treatment, detention, chemical treatment including pre- and post-chlorine disinfection, fluoridation and pH adjustment, rapid flow gravity media filtration with a new 1.5-MG finished water clearwell, backwash holding and sludge thickening, recycling of decanted backwash, and high service pumping. Three new deep wells provide the raw water supply.
Davis & Floyd coordinated with Harper Corporation, the general contractor, on this design-bid-build project.
The City of Sumter now has the ability to provide water service to industrial customers and sites in the US 521 corridor, southeast of the City, as well as meet current and future water demands.
