| Our
quality assurance procedures are very effective for change orders on our projects are less than
2% percent
of the construction cost, well below the national average.
Our
quality assurance program includes structured checking procedures performed
by project designers throughout the design phase. Qualified design
personnel not involved with the project also review the design
as it progresses through successive stages of completion through production of final contract documents.
The following procedures are
employed by the project design team personnel to provide quality assurance:
-
Design groups are structured so that only qualified and
experienced designers have decision responsibilities in each and
every discipline required by a particular assignment
-
During the design procedure, overlays are prepared utilizing our
CADD system which checks for conflicts between the various systems
and/or disciplines
-
At the beginning of the design procedure, outline specifications for
the entire project are prepared by the project manager and
specification coordinator. The designer in each specific discipline
tailors these general specifications to fit the specific project.
These are reviewed by the specification coordinator for content,
typographical errors, and formatting
-
The assigned project manager reviews, checks, and coordinates the
design and specifications on a continuous basis throughout the
design period
In
parallel with the checks made by the design team, a separate and independent
group reviews the drawings at predetermined stages of design. This
allows
a "fresh eye" review and provides:
-
A quantity survey and cost estimate at each stage of design, from
the initial conceptual phase through the detailed quantity survey
and cost estimate prepared when the design is finished
-
An ongoing check for omissions and/or conflicts detected during
quantity surveys and reviews by experienced takeoff/construction
engineers
-
Coordination between the specifications and the contract documents
-
A review and recommendations intended to insure that the
project is biddable and constructible, based upon experience on
similar work, and/or the best available technology for a given program
