Davis & Floyd’s ability to provide architectural, engineering, and surveying services is a definite benefit to recreational and athletic projects. Buildings and structures are carefully integrated with the civil layout of athletic fields and courts, playgrounds, and other recreational areas. We believe in maximizing the natural features of the site, such as water, views, topography, and historic structures. It is important that all marshes and wetlands be protected and become integral complimentary features of the park or recreation complex.
Athletic fields must be designed for the age groups and organizations that will be using them. Fields and ballparks that are for community use only can be designed and located for flexibility and multi-purpose utilization. Athletic facilities to be used for tournament, high school, or NCAA level play must be carefully positioned and designed to meet strict regulations.
All facilities require careful design consideration to provide ADA handicap accessibility to all areas and amenities. These can be very challenging depending on local terrain and character. Our architects work with the landscape architect to fully integrate all built and natural features. Buildings and structures located within a park or recreation / athletic site must be durable and secure, requiring minimal maintenance.
